The Capitol of Utah in Salt Lake City - I would imagine there will be a flurry of activity there this week during the swearing in of Biden in D.C.

Fuji Acros 100

Shot on the Washington Beach - I'm not one for centering the frame, but in this case everything fit to where there was no other option.

No crop - shot with the Rollei 6008i of which is an amazing result when you get it right upon capture.

Fuji Across 100 in a Stand with Rodinal @5% with a 60 minute burn. Scanned on a Nikon LS-8000 legacy scanner at 4000 dpi.

No people here - which is a bit unusual were this beach attracts quite the people crowd.

get Great Glass - i.e. (Lenses)

Added on by John Sturr.

Every once in a while I get reminded that great glass is not only a gift but it's a necessity. It's a necessity in order to separate you from everyone else - it's a necessity to give your images the power of a compelling view. Get great lenses - even if it's just one - get one - and shoot that system like you are going to die tomorrow.

the Flowers - StandDev

I have about 20 rolls of film to process and this last weekend I started to dig in - and the fruits of the labor always reignites the spark to keep on - keeping on…

Shot on the Rollei 6008i - and I realize why I keep using this wonderful beast of a camera - in FuijiFilms’s Acros 100 in a Rodinal Stand @ 5% for 60 minutes. Ok — that was a mouthful if you even care that much - it’s good to care though as it provides context to the craft. The Acros 100 is the first generation.

Oh — and scanned on a legacy Nikon LS-8000 @ 4000dpi - totally native mind you … Boom…. double Boom.

the Light

Added on by John Sturr.

While shopping I took this image of a hanging light - using the 35mm Nikon F100 and the 50mm f1.4 it turned out really well. It’s interesting when it all comes together and the final result surprises you after development and the scan. This is where the choice of premium gear, meaning the lens, will really set the captured scene apart from the normal view.

Shot on Fujifilm Acro 100 in a Rodinal Stand development for 60 minutes. Scanned on the Minolta 5400 series.

Twin Falls Idaho

A quick shot of the falls - at Twin Falls - known as the Niagara of the West.  Shot with the Rollei 6008i with Fujifilm Acros 100 and processed with a stand development using Rodinal with a dilution for a 60 minute processing time.

Fuji Acros 100 - Film

Added on by John Sturr.

This was shot last Summer on Acros 100 and processed with a "Stand" development.  The stand is not only very convenient - the gradation between whites and blacks is crazy rich, deep and contrasty.  My eye screams for more when all comes out very well.  This scene was with the Rollei 6008 Integral and the kit lens.  When everything comes together / the planets align / film becomes a magical endeavor - even if only you see it as such.  What do I mean by this:  Film needs to be stored to stay fresh - in a fridge; the film is exposed and the image can't be confirmed as being "good"; the film is developed - weird stuff can happen during development; film is then scanned and processed etc.  There are so many steps to where all can really, very easily, go to hell.

But I digress -- this capture turned out great !!
