Fuji Acros 100

Shot on the Washington Beach - I'm not one for centering the frame, but in this case everything fit to where there was no other option.

No crop - shot with the Rollei 6008i of which is an amazing result when you get it right upon capture.

Fuji Across 100 in a Stand with Rodinal @5% with a 60 minute burn. Scanned on a Nikon LS-8000 legacy scanner at 4000 dpi.

No people here - which is a bit unusual were this beach attracts quite the people crowd.

find the Frame

Fuji Acros 100

Look for the scene to fill the frame -- see how your limitations will define the impact to the viewer - and then make that just as important as what your displaying - ultimately. If you have unlimited power you have limited creativity.

Fujichrome Acros 100 - stand development @5% - developed and scanned in house.

the Flowers - StandDev

Added on by John Sturr.

I have about 20 rolls of film to process and this last weekend I started to dig in - and the fruits of the labor always reignites the spark to keep on - keeping on…

Shot on the Rollei 6008i - and I realize why I keep using this wonderful beast of a camera - in FuijiFilms’s Acros 100 in a Rodinal Stand @ 5% for 60 minutes. Ok — that was a mouthful if you even care that much - it’s good to care though as it provides context to the craft. The Acros 100 is the first generation.

Oh — and scanned on a legacy Nikon LS-8000 @ 4000dpi - totally native mind you … Boom…. double Boom.

last Summer - with M and Violet

Added on by John Sturr.

This was a grab shot - as most of my images are - M and Violet. One of the last of Violet as we put her down on July 1. Her diabetes got the best of her for the last year - yep - 12 months of shots twice a day. She was a Maine Coon and was an amazing animal we had for 10 years.

Shot with the Rollei 6008i on Fuji Acros 100 - self developed and scanned.

WW II - Museum

Added on by John Sturr.

Shot at the Museum - quite near the entrance.  The Museum is very nice - but I wish it was bigger !  This images is a BW convert from color.  This may be the first time I've done this, as I'm usually a purest when it comes to the craft.  But - in this case - a BW images really makes this form pop.

As always - no crop and self developed, shot on a Rollei 6008i

New Orleans - 2

Added on by John Sturr.

This image is one of my favorites of the New Orleans -- it appears to be some kind of a psychic.  The group may or may not be related - and the black and white capture adds to the mystery.  Shot on the Rollei 6008i with Acros 100 stand development in Rodinal - no crop.

Twin Falls Idaho

A quick shot of the falls - at Twin Falls - known as the Niagara of the West.  Shot with the Rollei 6008i with Fujifilm Acros 100 and processed with a stand development using Rodinal with a dilution for a 60 minute processing time.

RMNP - atop looking down

This last September, on a trip to Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park I was able to grab this shot when we stopped for a quick viewing.

This image was captured really well -- and with film that is always a bit of a trick.  And - if the image is captured well, there is no guarantee that the development will do it justice.  The image capture, and home development, and scanning turned out just as envisioned.  And this path - is the beauty of film, and the process of film, and the unexpected nature of film.

Fuji Acros - 100 iso

Added on by John Sturr.

I've recently discovered this Acros Fuji stock -- and OMG -- it's of my favorite now.  I wish Fuji still made the 400iso as it only comes in 100 stock.  Image was taken on the overlook at Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.  The weather was cold and crazy windy for a day in September.  But - it all worked out just fine.

Over a Month -- yikes

Added on by John Sturr.

It's been too long - I'll be working on that for the future.  I will say that I get delayed from posting as I copyright all images now.  So there is a 3-4 month delay after the photo is taken before I have a group to register etc.  And after the image is registered, then I can post.  Ugh --- I know... but that's the process.  Ok -- onward.

This image was taken with the newly repaired Rollei 6008i on Ilford Delta 400.  Home processed and scanned - and the scan is excellent.  The negative processed very flat and as always the flatter the better during the scan.

I really like this image and may print it 24"x24".

No crop.

Back from the MAC at PYC

Added on by John Sturr.

At the end of July the Pentwater Yacht Club allows boats returning from Mackinaw to dock overnight - all stacked up.  I shot this the day after the "Back from the Mac" PYC party of the night before.

Shot on the Rollei 6008i - I'm loving the rendering this camera is providing.   Self developed and scanned.
